Woolwich Central Baptist Church: Meet the Pastor

Revd Andrew White

Our Minister at WCBC is Revd Andrew White.

Andrew grew up in Erith, worshipping in local Baptist churches with his parents and brother. He undertook a science degree at UEA Norwich, before training as a primary school teacher. Later he became a Deputy Headteacher then a specialist teacher, during which time he started Theological studies part-time at Spurgeon’s College.

Upon ordination, Andrew took up a part-time Schools and Community ministry in Belvedere, alongside being Bexley’s RE Advisor. In 2012, he moved to become the Managing Chaplain to HMP Thameside, London’s largest and newest Remand prison.

Andrew has had 31 years Reserve service, first as a TA soldier, then an RAF Reserve Officer, and for the last 14 years he has been an Army Reserve Chaplain. Andrew supports personnel at Woolwich Barracks, the Guards Chapel and being the lead chaplain for cadets across London. He is also the County Chaplain for St John’s Ambulance in London.

Andrew and Nadine

Andrew met his wife Nadine at Secondary School. For many years, they enjoyed both working in education, playing music, and serving in local churches, particularly youth work and worship ministry. Nadine became an SEN specialist teacher then an Early Years Advisor in Bexley. Nadine now has a part-time role at Lessness Abbey as the Education Park Ranger.

Andrew and Nadine have three grown-up children: Benjamin, Tim and Sophie. All five of the family are musical, singing and playing various instruments.
